Red Creek Day 13 - Coreopsis

I have enjoyed painting the Red Creek wildflowers. It has been a learning experience. I'm not only learning the names of the flowers - common and scientific, but I am also noticing differences in flowers that I have never taken time to notice before. For instance, the Coreopsis (Coreopsis lanceolata L.) blooms from April to June. The Helianthus blooms later - usually July to December. The Coreopsis has less petals (8) and a lighter center. Both are hardy perennials that brighten the creek, the roadsides, and me.
