Red Creek Day 18 - The Cardinal Flower

This one is for Daniel. This elusive flower that we searched the creek one summer day is known as the Cardinal Flower (Lobelia cardinalis L.)  Blooming solo and/or in pairs, the scarlet red petals really popped against the green grass and foliage of the creek banks. We enjoyed looking for this flower that  blooms from July to October.
